Daft Punk x The 8485

Here is the second new joint from The 8485. It's a remix of Daft Punk's Robot Rock. There's no better feeling than fucking with your idols.

The 8485 x Daft Punk- Back in Ya Robot Face(320 kbps)

The 8485- Bring it Back

Cass and I just got back from the studio with these two new dope records. We started a rap group with one purpose, to make that dope shit.

Here is the first of two new tracks.

You Know When I Heard That, When I Was Back Home.

Hell of a day to get back to the Cap. I'm stepping on the bus at the same time as the product launch, but if you're still in TO I would recommend stopping by New Era on Friday. Even if you ain't feelin the fit you should stop in for the event. Everyone that works in the store is mad cool and they have a million and one other hats to look at. Shit, you could even go just to talk shit to me when I get back. HOLLA!

I Go For Broke On The Boulevard

So last winter I caved and finally decided to stop hatin' on C&C Clothing Factory. I picked up this ultra-illy sweater that I found at Norml and have probably worn it once a week since. Obviously, Crooks has blown up massively since then, and now I get to see everyone from Bun B to Jigga smoothed out in it. But it still seems like everytime I see the shit in a store it's mostly weaksauce to go. I still only got the one sweater and I love it too much to hate C&C, but I still ain't feelin' most of the shit they got out. Shit's a mean Catch-22.

No Sleep Till Brooklyn

This is what I get for sleepin on em...Lemar & Dauley looked like another streetwear brand trying to capitalize off of what I'll call "the colour movement." But then again everything on Karmaloop looks like shit until you see it in a store. Anyway, I finally paid L&D some mind at Da Zone on Queen and shit son, their gear is hardbody. Either go pick somethin' up or cop an ill new white tee. The choice is yours...

Human Nature

In my humble opinion it is human nature to want what you can't have. Luckily, the french dudes at Colette have decided to make it easier to get your hands on some of those things, though at an unfortunate premium (prices in Euros with heavy shipping). Anyway, check out their site, they re-upped something serious for the holidays. Click on the little robot that says "We Sold Out," and prepare to get fucked up. To be honest, if you live in TO, the alternative (getting run over by millions of people) may be worth the shipping. Happy holidays ey'body.

"Money On The Dresser, Drive A Kompressor..."

Just give 'em the damn grammy already! Shut down the competition, say sorry to everyone else, and just give it to UGK. Period. I remember when this track dropped, I was running around asking every DJ I could find to spin it. Shout out to my boy Kwende (DJ Memetic) who was one of the only dudes with it in on hand at the time. Possibly the best track of the year. Take that bitches.

Good Morning

Pz to Nation for reminding me about this track. I just went through some semi-serious health issues and am actually finally feeling slightly better. This track just reminded me of how blissful a smoothed out morning can be. Shit son, I even woke up early this morning.

Jokers of the Scene Mix

Ottawa's own and recent Fools Gold signees, Jokers of the Scene are back up in the blogosphere (did I really use that word?). Looking to re-up on their Disconnected party, they've put out a dope new mix. The 8485 opened a loft party in the summer with them (thrown by Hot Flux Empire). It was fucking ridiculous. If you're in Ottawa and not going to the Disorganized monthly, or not going to Disconnected on the 2oth, there's something wrong.

R.I.P. Chad 'Pimp C' Butler

As many of you probably know, Pimp C
(b. Chad Butler) was found dead this morning,
the cause of death is still unknown. It's
always hard for me when a hip hop figure
dies, especially someone who I actually listen
to regularly. But Pimp C is different. As a
rapper, I enjoyed his everyman insights, witty
punchlines, and solid slow flow. As an entertainer
I enjoyed his wild rants about race, gender and
sexuality (although I can't say that I ever really
agreed with him). But it was as a producer that I
really took stock in what he was doing. You had
to admire this man's soul. Instead of posting a
bunch of zshare links fo people to download his
music, I'm just going to post some youtube links.
It might not be that different, but at least I
don't feel like I'm taking something from him.

Interview with Pimp C

Also check out Noz over at the XXL Blogs or at
Cocaine Blunts for a more informed and
comprehensive paying of respects to Pimp C.

As a bonus, this is my favorite Pimp C verse, it's from 'One Day'
off Ridin Dirty.

UGK- One Day(lyrics jacked from ohhla)

I'm up early cuz aint enough/
light in the daytime/
Smoke two sweets get in these streets/
out the pop up line/
Peanut holder my boulders/
smolder on the PA pipes/
Ak loader as I get swallowed/
under city lights/
Niggas be lookin shife/
so I look shife back/
Cant show no weakness in these/
streets you'll get yo life jacked/
Mayn its a trip/
where i stay especially for me/
This bitches tryin/
to lock me up for the whole century/
They gave my boy down/
in Florida Dante 19/
I wish that we could/
smoke again and take a tight lean/
My world a trip you can ask Bun B/
bitch I aint no liar/
My man RoRo/
jus lost his baby in a house fire
And then when I got on my knees/
that night to pray/
I asked God why he let these killas/
live and take my homeboy's son away/
Man if you got kids show em you love em/
cuz God jus might call em home/
Cuz one day you here/
but baby the next day you gone

Rest in Peace, Pimpin'

Un peu plus fort, veuillez

I was dragged kicking and screaming (or something) to an electro-rap show in the summer. Some French chick who got famous by dissing someone quasi-important in the French glitch-rap-electro scene. On myspace no less. I ended up loving the show. The rapper-girl goes by Yelle. I caught a couple over at Synthetic Rocks that reminded me that she's dope. One in particular did justice to what she was like live (the PJU remix). The energy, the charisma. Also, I never miss an opportunity to share a Punks Jump Up track. One original, one remix:

Yelle- Les Femmes
Yelle- A Cause Des Garcons (Punks Jump Up Remix)

Not Gonna Rush The Stroke

This shit is going to be so crazy to play out. I'm just waiting on Sensual Eruption to leak, the dirty version is too ill.

The Amen-Ra of Universal Hip Hop Culture

Speaking of Bambaataa, anyone in Toronto this weekend who likes hip hop, electro or both, should head down to Revival this Saturday (Dec.1st/2007). If I didn't have a huge exam coming up in a week, I would be so sweaty on that dancefloor. belie' dat.

Get Up = 1,2 Step - Bambaataa

I totally missed this song when it came out, and it's probably a good thing, because recently I've resolved my blood pressure issues and this would have sent me over the top. I loved 1,2 Step. I thought that song was dope because, among other things, it was new-urban pop made for little girls to pseudo 'pop' to, but if you knew anything about hip hop or electro, it was so much more.

Get Up is actually just 1,2, Step without Planet Rock as the primary influence. It's like they were really inspired by 1,2 Step, so they did a song based on that.

Ranting, I apologize.

Nasty Mix

My favorite Toronto DJ, Nasty Nav, started his own record label. NASTY MIX. You'll see alot of this guy mentioned, because he's dope. And because he's a good guy. And because, fuck, I like a hardworker like Nav, grinding shit out. His first release is the Bird Peterson Solid Trunk EP.

Goodluck with it Nav.

Cop the Solid Trunk EP here.

or better yet, hit up Play De Record and support Nav even more. Oh. Yeah, you didn't know?

The Boss and Chuck Taylor

Big up to jamphat for the image, hip hop math is back!!!

So Rick 'the boss' Ross' new album was pushed back. Big fucking surprise, right? But I gotta say, I'm excited for it. I was telling Cass last night after we checked out this studio, two of my go-to MC's right now are two guys I never thought I would like: Rick Ross and The Game. They both came out with more basic styles. They both claimed not to really be rappers, but rather that they were hustlers (who rap good, blah), and they were both seeming to ride other peoples coat-tails (Jeezy and Curtis, respectively). But now they've both proved to be alot deeper than their inital attempts at radio. But also, when I look back two of my favorite singles in 2006 were One Blood and Hustlin, and neither was a half-step pop-effort, and both fucking smashed.

So in the honour of this realization, and in sadness that I have to wait until '08 for both of these releases, here are a couple tracks, one new and previous gem from each.

Ludacris ft/ Rick Ross and Bun B- Down in tha Durty
Rick Ross- Blow

The Game- Walk in The Streets

Da Art of Blogging Pt. IV (billion)

It's simple really. This is a blog. Most likely much like any other blog. It will deliver to you just my thoughts ladies and gentleman. Just what I'm feelin' at the time. The posts may help you a) waste time at work, b) entertain yourself for but a fleeting second or c) provide you an outlet with which to curse the name of two dude's from Canada you don't even actually know. I don't know about you but i think that's a solid deal. Anyways, I like all sorts of random shit, most of which is covered on other blogs. I suppose that should be a good enough reason to just give up on the whole blogging thing, but fuck it...and more importantly, fuck that. So just check out Celebutante Kitten everyday, and I promise it will be the best ever. Occassionally. Relatively speaking.

That's it.

I can't concentrate anymore. 3 Stacks is too crazy and I'm not turnin' off the song. Part IV is insane.

First Post

Our foray into the blogosphere started with the blog over at the e-zine Hot Flux Empire. Due to some technical difficulties, we haven't been able to post there in like a month, so today I'm starting this little gem. CELEBUTANTE KITTEN. Although it's a reference to young, party girl coochie, this isn't one of those blogs (much respect due, nonetheless). Sorry folks, this is one of those music/fashion/parties/food/culture/whatever-the-fuck-I-want blogs. Yeah yeah, another one of those.

I can't do much more of a post at the moment, trying to get my work done, but I thought this was important enough to take care of. So here's my first post, my edit of a Jokers of the Scene track that I love.

Jokers of the Scene- Y'all Know the Name (Jay Bones Edit)
